Over het evenement

This dance performance project about transformation and imagination is based on the Roman writer Ovid's classic Metamorphoseon libri. The poet documents the constant processes of change that take place throughout human existence, and in particular where these are generated by the divine. The emergence of man is rooted in a bottomless ocean, a swirling nature and supernature. Even today, humans are overwhelmed by a constant stream of stimuli that sometimes makes one lose the North. This project zooms in on the body as a compass in a changing world. The body has its own temporality that generates change but also slows down and processes it.

Through dance and its dialogue with musical explorations, we search for bodies that transform and still. We draw inspiration from ancient and timeless images and stories that permeate our culture. Images and the imagination play a crucial role in these transformation processes. They arise in change and give direction to change. Bodies play with images that race through their limbs. By making these images visible and audible, we explore the gateways between inner and outer worlds and the processes of change and stillness.

With 2 try-outs, we are happy to share with you the first result of our research process in collaboration with dancer and choreographer Sander Vloebergs. Our intention is to develop this project further in the long term.

Both try-outs are free to attend.

ATTENTION: there are only 25 places available each try-out.
