Hrayr Karapetyan - Violin

The Grand Prix winner of the Triomphe de l’Art International Music Competition and prize winner of Aram Khachaturian International Violin Competition (2012), violinist Hrayr Karapetyan has an impressive record of awards and concert appearances. He carried first prize in the Avet Gabrielyan/Sargis Aslamazyan competition and won the Alexander Spendiaryan competition in his native Armenia. Hrayr was also one of the finalists in 2012 President’s Youth Award in Armenia. 

 

As a member of YerazArt foundation and AGBU Performing Artist, Hrayr has participated in a charity program “Musical companion”, which presented more than 300 concerts in retirement houses, orphanages and schools.

 

Besides his solo career, he is also an active chamber and orchestral musician.

 

Hrayr founded the project “Art of Duo” with his wife, pianist Hasmik Manukyan, in 2008. the project oriented on introducing Duo-repertoire from the Baroque to the modern era, with a special focus on less performed works by 20th and 21t century composers.

 

Hrayr is the founder and the artistic director of “Hayasa Music” festival, established in Brussels 2015.

Together with his brother Henrik, he founded the “Karapetyan Brothers” in 2015. Their mission: to popularise the works of Armenian & international composers but specifically focusing on performing works by modern Armenian masters of composition.

The project is dedicated to the memory of their father, Hayk Karapetyan.

As an orchestra musician, Hrayr has been a member of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Armenian State Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and currently has a position in l’Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège. 

He also performs with Avetis Festival Orchestra, Belgian Virtuosos Orchestra, Classical Concert Chamber Orchestra, Lumen Symphonicum, Belgian National Orchestra, La Monnaie and is concertmaster of Frascati Symphonic since 2017.

 

All combined he has performed concerts and recitals in USA, Canada, Belgium, Armenia, France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, UAE, Qatar and Turkey appearing in venues such as Konzerthaus (Berlin), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Victoria Hall (Geneva), Alte Oper (Frankfurt), Flagey & Bozar (Brussels).
